This full-time Music
Ministry Program offers eight different musical opportunities for people of
all ages. There are four vocal choirs for ages ranging from
pre-school to adult, three hand bell choirs for ages
nine (third grade) to adults, and a Worship Band. Each choir offers the gift of music
on a regular basis on Sunday mornings. Throughout the year, there
are also concerts and programs that the choirs participate in
along with special festival Sundays such as Christmas Eve and Holy
Week services.
If you would
like to join one of our vocal choirs, please just come to
rehearsal. If you are interested and if space is available in one
of our handbell choirs, please speak with Greg Kirby, Director of
Music. Hope to see you at the first rehearsal.
The Adult Choir, lead by Greg Kirby, rehearses Thursday nights from 7:30 to 9:30pm
in Room 10 (the choir room). The
adult choir
(also called the Chancel Choir) leads worship
every Sunday morning at both the 8:30am and 10am services from
September to June. Once each month the choir sings
contemporary music accompanied by the Worship Band.
Adult Choir takes the months of July and August off, and special
worship music is provided by solos and small vocal groups.
The Adult Hand Bell Choir practices Wednesday nights from 7:30pm to
8:30pm in the Sanctuary and plays in worship once a month. Greg also leads this
choir.
The Celebration Singers (Grades 6 -
12) are CUMC's Youth Choir. They rehearse on
Sundays after church from 11:15am to 12:00pm in Room 10 (the choir
room). They lead worship
once a month and not only learn how to sing, but also learn about
how music is used to worship God. They are directed by Greg Kirby
and Marsha Grove.
Youth Hand Bells (Grade 6 - 12),
directed by Greg Kirby, rehearse on Thursdays
from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the Sanctuary and play in the worship service once a
month.
Joyful Noise Choir (Grades 2 - 5), directed by Roni Kuester
and Samar McGregor, is made up of two
components. One part of this fellowship is rehearsal on Sunday mornings, from 9:30am -
10am in Room 10 (the choir room). Then, every Friday, from 5:00pm to 6:00pm, there is more
fellowship time where the kids play games and sing songs. This choir sings in
worship once a month.
Children's Chimes (Grades 3 - 5) is directed by Greg
Kirby and is a great starter
program for learning how to play handbells. The players learn
music theory and make beautiful music to enhance the worship
service. They
rehearse Wednesday nights from 5:00pm to 6:00pm in the Sanctuary and play in
worship every other month.
The Cherub Choir (1st grade and under)
is directed by Dave Hattersley and Sonya Hatch. This youngest of choirs charms our
congregation once a month. They rehearse on Sunday mornings from
9:30am to 10:00 am in Room 5 (the orange room).
If you are interested in participating in any of our choirs,
