CUMC's Christian Education program is comprised of three main components:
Sunday School, Vacation Bible
School, and Adult Bible Studies.
Here at CUMC we believe that learning about God and deepening our faith
is a life long journey. From our youngest child in our nursery to our
oldest member of our adult classes, we strive to show the love of God and
the hope that He gave us in His Son Jesus Christ. Here we are truly
committed to living as faithful disciples of Christ and showing His love
and grace to all His children. Whether it is in a Sunday School class or
one of our other studies we hope that you will join us.
Sunday School
We
offer Sunday School for children and youth at both the 8:30AM & 10:00AM
services. Our volunteers that work
with our children and youth have all
been active with CUMC for at least 6 months and have had a background
check. We hope that you will come and see if our church is the right fit
for you and your family.
Nursery care is provided at the 10:00AM service for infants and
children up to three years
of age. Our nursery is staffed with caring people who offer a wonderfully
warm, inviting, and loving setting to allow babies and toddlers time to
become adjusted to being away from their parents who are attending
services on Sunday morning. Every Sunday, stories are
read and small activities are offered to enrich the religious experience
of the little ones.
Children's Sunday School (ages 3 through 5th grade):
Children attend worship with their families then are excused to
Sunday school after the Moments With Children part of the service;
children are always welcome to stay in worship, if they would like.
8:30 AM:
Following the Moments with Children in the sanctuary we have a One Room
Sunday School format where all
children attend
Sunday School together. We meet in the gathering room which is painted as
the Sea of Galilee. We use curriculum from Cokesbury and offer several
different activities that are appropriate for all ages 3 years old to 5th
grade. Our goal in Sunday School is to learn
about God’s love for us through play and different activities that speak
to children at their level. We explore Bible stories from the Old and New
Testaments.
10:30 AM:
Following the Moments with Children we again meet in the gathering room
where we have prayer time, take the offering and review the lesson from
the week before. We introduce the lesson for this week and review our
bible verse. The children are then excused to their classrooms where
children participate in age appropriate Sunday School activities.
Youth Sunday School:
8:30 AM:
We have a combined Jr. and Sr. High class that meets to discuss current
events and fellowship. We have use different curriculum options for this
age group to encourage discussion on relevant topics.
10:00 AM:
To accommodate the typically larger number of youth at this service we
have different rooms for Jr. High and Sr. High and we again foster
meaningful conversation and fellowship using curriculum designed for the
teenage youth.
